Sebastian Stan

Word from Heat Vision this morning is that Marvel Studios is continuing the casting of The First Avenger: Captain America by casting the role of Steve Rogers’ faithful sidekick, Bucky. Sebastian Stan, best known for his roles on the short-lived NBC show Kings and brief stint on Gossip Girl, has accepted the role and will star alongside Chris Evans.

For those not familiar with Bucky Barnes, he’s “a teenaged orphan, was too young to join the army but became one camp’s mascot. When he discovered Captain America’s identity, he joined Captain America as a partner in his Nazi-fighting escapades.” It’s a pivotal role, one which could make or break the film. The relatively untested Stan certainly has the youthful look, but he will certainly need to bring his A-game in order to give life to Bucky Barnes.

Barnes is a character with a rather torrid history, as he was killed and ultimately resurrected in the Marvel Comics universe, getting a second life as a covert assassin named Winter Soldier. There’s no word yet on whether the Winter Soldier storyline will come into play in The First Avenger, but inside sources tell Heat Vision that Stan is signed on for five or six films, leaving plenty of room for development.
