Sacha Baron Cohen Might Team With ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Writers

There isn’t any information on what their project might entail, but does there really need to be? Isla Fisher’s husband is reportedly shopping out a script with writer/producers Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer, and David Mandel.

You may not directly recognize those names, but you’d recognize names like “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

According to Deadline, the quartet visited several studios yesterday and are continuing on today.

So what might happen if four masters of awkward comedy all work together? Will they call Ricky Gervais just to round out the racial humor? Will this only be a film version of one of the character Cohen scrapped when doing “Da Ali G Show”?

I have no idea, but I’m a big fan of major talent working together. I imagine Cohen’s guest spot on “Curb” back in 2005 (along with his massive success, and, you know, he and Schaffer working together on Bruno) really made an impression. Funny how one small encounter like that can lead to a partnership.

What do you think?

A veteran of writing about movies for nearly a decade, Scott Beggs has been the Managing Editor of Film School Rejects since 2009. Despite speculation, he is not actually Walter Mathau's grandson. See? He can't even spell his name right.
