‘Gangster Squad’ Didn’t Put Him in Director Jail, So Ruben Fleischer’s ‘Spy Hunter’ Is Chugging Right Along

Spy Hunter

As was strongly rumored back in September (and before the bust that was Gangster Squad), Warner Bros. has now officially set Ruben Fleischer to direct their Spy Hunter video game adaptation. Carter Blanchard is also on board to pen the script which, sadly, is not about the Spy vs. Spy comic that I’ve apparently been thinking of every time this project has come up. Based on the popular arcade game from the ’80s, Spy Hunter also involves rogue spies hunting each other. Self-explanatory.

This adaptation has been off and on for years and years, with such names as Dwayne Johnson (who voiced an updated version of the game back in 2006, and whose face is plastered all over its boxes), John Woo, and Paul W.S. Anderson filtering in and out of its development. [Deadline Hollywood]
