Ridley Scott to Revisit Alien?

Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman doesn’t just want another Alien film. He wants Ridley Scott to come on board to direct. The first two Alien films were, in my opinion, the best of the quartet. It makes some sense to go back to Ridley Scott, director and creator of the original film Alien, to revisit the franchise. Rothman was interviewed at the red carpet premiere of Wolverine by Robert Sanchez of IESB.

There’s been some talk. Ridley Scott, Ridley is right now working on Robin Hood, but I think he’s toying with the idea and that would be great for us. I mean, it’s always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I’ve got my fingers crossed, all of them.”

The talk is about an Alien prequel as opposed to a sequel. Rothman went on to talk about the Predators franchise of which he now has total control with Robert Rodriguez at the helm also producing. Let’s hope that if there’s a new Alien film, the Predators won’t try to jump into it.

What do you think of an Alien prequel? How cool would it be to see Ridley Scott back in command?

Along the way she's studied theater at Syracuse University, worked with Woody Allen starring most of the time on the cutting room floor. A segue into the punk rock scene followed but writing was always the main focus. She writes for various crafty, artsy magazines about people who make craftsy, artsy collectible things. But her first love is writing fiction and film criticism which some people think are the same thing.
