Reject Radio #88: Dub Style

This week, on a very special episode of Reject Radio, we talk with veteran voice actor Steve Blum and Hobo With a Shotgun director Jason Eisener.

Plus, Erin McCarthy from Popular Mechanics and Will Goss from tackle the Movie News Pop Quiz and maybe, just maybe find some love along the way.

By that, I mean a loving concern for summer blockbusters like Harry Potter and Transformers 3.

On This Week’s Show:

The Reject Radio Movie News Pop Quiz [The Beginning – 17:15]: It’s McCarthy v Goss in what might be the highest-scoring quiz of all time. Who will the trophy go to? Who makes us talk about his or her concerns about the blockbusting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and Transformers: Dark of the Moon? Who doesn’t like dragon robots? All these questions and more will be revealed.

Going Crazy in the Booth [17:15 – 35:45]: Steve Blum is a veteran voice actor with a resume longer than “War and Peace” but you probably don’t even know what he looks like. He’s provided voices for shows and movies  like Wolverine and the X-Men, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Transformers Prime and about a hundred others. He joins me to discuss how he got his start, the nature of letting loose in front of the microphone, and explains why his path to voice acting stardom began in a tree house.

The Pregnant Girl At the Prom [35:45 – The End]: When you’re making a movie called Hobo With a Shotgun, you can’t go half-ass. Fortunately, Jason Eisener doesn’t go half-ass. He joins me to talk about working with childhood hero Rutger Hauer, focusing on shock value to build plot and character, and how he feels about films that use the grindhouse aesthetic as spoof.
