‘Point Break’ Remake Finds Its Johnny Utah

Luke Bracey

Put simply, this Point Break remake is happening. So much so, in fact, that they are continuing the casting process and most assuredly spending money on the thing. They being Alcon Entertainment and director Ericson Core, whose work you’ll know from the 2006 Mark Wahlberg football movie Invincible (which wasn’t so bad).

In the remake of the 1991 Kathryn Bigelow-directed thriller, Gerard Butler is set to play bank robber and surfer Bodhi, a role originally made famous by Patrick Swayze. In the role of Johnny Utah, his nemesis and eventual partner, the production has tapped Luke Bracey, a somewhat unknown whose most major work was as the masked version of Cobra Commander in G.I. Joe Retaliation and a role opposite Selena Gomez in Monte Carlo. One thing is for sure: Bracey certainly looks the part, brah.
