Mike Fleming over at Deadline is reporting that How I Met Your Mother star and all-around man of the people Neil Patrick Harris (NPH to his friends) has signed on to star alongside a bunch of little blue dudes in The Smurfs, the Raja Gosnell (Scooby-Doo) directed adaptation of the famous kids cartoon. He joins Jonathan Winters, who has already signed on to voice Papa Smurf. No word yet as to which character NPH will voice, but it’s being described as the “lead” role. He will be part of the live-action element of the CGI/live-action hybrid film. He will take part in the production during his HIMYM hiatus in April.

I see nothing wrong with this news. NPH is the man. It seems fitting that he would walk with Smurfs.
