The title of the film Donkey Punch refers to, as Wikipedia say, “an apocryphal and potentially lethal sexual practice supposedly performed during anal sex. The purported practice involves the penetrating partner punching the receiving partner in the back of the head or neck.”

The film itself is about seven young Brits who decide to take their party from the nightclub to a luxury yacht in the middle of the ocean. But when one of them dies in a freak accident the others are torn about what to do, leading to a ruthless fight for survival. It’s like a really twisted version of Survivor or Lost, but with a much more entertaining name.

This is one of the films that I was very sad to have missed at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, as I heard nothing but good things. As well, I did have a chance to meet writer/director Olie Blackburn, who was a damn nice guy. The film has not yet been picked up for distribution, but a poster has been released to IMPAwards.
