Transformers 4: 2014 Camaro Bumblebee

Whether you’re interested in it or not, Transformers 4 is happening in the summer of 2014. Personally, I’m interested. Mostly because, as a stout Michael Bay defender (sometimes apologist), I welcome any opportunity to experience a bit of Bayhem. That, and despite its numerous and well-chronicled series of flaws, the Transformers franchise has not failed to entertain on a very basic level. Something inside me adores the very existence of giant alien robots fighting it out in absurd situations. That’s exactly what I’ve always wanted from a live-action Transformers franchise, and I’m certainly not alone.

With that in mind, it’s about time — almost exactly a year prior to the release of the next movie and well in advance of any actual footage — to get up close and personal with some of the new vehicles that Bay and friends have assembled for this go-around. These cars will undoubtedly star alongside the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, Kelsey Grammer and Li Bingbing. And just as we’ve seen in previous installments, if this is going to be one long car commercial, it might as well feature some wicked-cool cars.

A “completely upgraded, custom-built Optimus Prime from Western Star” is the new look for the leader of the Autobots. Check out those flames…

This race-inspired C7 Corvette Stingray, based on Chevrolet’s upcoming 2014 production Corvette, will belong to a new character.

Bugatti

The Top Gear lover in me can’t wait to see this $2.4 million dollar Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse turn into a giant robot. Or get blowed up real good. Either way, somewhere Jeremy Clarkson will be weeping quietly.

The always rugged and reliable Hound, a Medium Tactical Vehicles product from Oshkosh Defense. Not to be confused with the Oshkosh B’gosh clothing line for children, which has a funny name.

“The ultimate Sonic RS, just pure fun.” We’ll see about that.

Lamborghini

Transformers 4: Lamborghini

The 2013 Lamborghini Aventador LP is perhaps one of the coolest-named Lamborghinis of all-time. It also looks sneaky.

Pagani

The Pagani Huayra. It’s comes from the ancient Andean god of wind. Don’t worry, the car can get to 100mph in less time than it would take you to figure out how to say it.

Freightliner Argosy

Transformers 4: Freightliner Argosy

Something about this Freightliner 2013 Argosy leads me to believe that Optimus Prime might have a girlfriend or a sidekick (or a crisis of identity) in the fourth film. Midlife crisis, maybe?

Bumblebee

Everyone’s favorite Transformer (and Optimus’ true sidekick) appears to be getting not one, but two new looks in Transformers 4. The first is a vintage 1967 Camaro, all tricked out as you might imagine. The second is the 2014 Concept Camaro, seen at the top of this article as well. They are calling it the “final jewel in the Transformers 4 crown.” Looks more like a car to me, but whatever.
