Japan Gets a 6-Disc Grindhouse DVD Box Set

Much was made about the DVD release of Grindhouse being split into two discs. In fact, some fans (my good friend Pete over at Slashfilm) have even postponed their purchase of Planet Terror and Death Proof on DVD in hope of a multi-disc, complete release of the original theatrical experience.

For those fans that live in Japan, this experience will be available on March 31, 2008. That’s right — it will be available in Japan — with 6-discs of glory. And if you live in America and would like to get this 6-Disc set (details below), you will need a multi-region DVD player, about $65 for the item (according to the listing on Amazon.jp) and god knows what for shipping. Of course, there is still a chance of an American release of a set like this — we just don’t know when. So you may not want to be running out to learn Japanese (necessary if you want to navigate this DVD’s menus) just yet.
