International ‘Predators’ Trailer Brings The Red Stuff

It seems the term “international trailer” has become synonymous with red-band these days, and the latest evidence of that comes courtesy of 20th Century Fox and their upcoming action/sci-fi film, Predators.

A new trailer has hit online and while it features some of the same dialogue beats and punches from the previous domestic one it also adds in a whole lot of bloodletting, gore, and action. There’s even a f*ck between Laurence Fishburne and Topher Grace… check out the new trailer below.

Hot damn.

Director Nimrod Antal’s Armored didn’t exactly inspire confidence in his abilities to return the Predator franchise back to glory, but this trailer sure does look promising. Some fantastic visuals combined with a welcome amount of gore and bloody goodness definitely add this to the must-see movies list of the summer. Hell, I’ll even look past the fact that the humans are apparently dropped from thousands of feet in the air but still manage to survive the landing. The Predator hounds look good (at least they do in this small form video), and the action is a definite return to the bloody jungle mayhem found in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s classic original.

I’m still curious about Grace’s role though as he has even less face time in this trailer than he did in the domestic one. He has several voice-overs and seems to be the character stand-in for the audience with all his questions, but he’s only seen in a couple wide group shots. Some have suggested this implies an issue with his performance, but he’s a competent enough actor that I doubt that’s the case. Still curious though.

Produced by Robert Rodriguez, directed by Antal, and starring Brody, Grace, Fishburne, Danny Trejo, and Alice Braga, the offical synopsis from 20th Centruy Fox is below.

Predators, a bold new chapter in the Predator universe, shot under the creative auspices of Robert Rodriguez, stars Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who to come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet…as prey. With the notable exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers-mercenaries, Yakuza convicts, death squad members – human “predators” that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.”

Predators opens July 7th.
