February has been a time for horror. New project announcements, new concept art, new trailers. In that last category, James Wan has decided to join the love-fest with the trailer for Insidious.

The flick already made a few waves last Fall during Toronto International Film Festival, and it sees theaters on April 1st – the perfect day for horror.

It has a strong cast with Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, and Barbara “No more wire hangers” Hershey. Check out the haunting trailer for yourself:

I’m going to chalk this up to not being in the mood to be scared right now. Maybe if I were eager for some fright this would feel right, but it just seems flat. Maybe its because Darth Maul is haunting their child.

On the plus side, the concept is strong and the trailer does put emphasis on the drama (in between bits of rocking horses rocking by themselves). Hopefully Wan put these characters through hell knowing that he has actors that could handle it.

Also, did this feel like too close of an homage to Poltergeist to anyone else? Wan has likened his movie to the classic, but there were a lot of similar beats here. Like, a lot. There were a lot of them.

Call me if any meat starts moving.

What say you?
