The first images of Jason Momoa as the title character in the upcoming reboot Conan have hit the web. It was Latino Review who brought them to our attention after they were posted to a message board. Unlike this morning’s image of Peter Sarsgaard in Green Lantern, there is no doubt that this is Conan’s look. He’s on set, doing things that are very barbarian. This be the final costume.

That said, Momoa is a very large, muscular actor who looks very shiny with his shirt off. He certainly has the look. Full judgment should be reserved for the first onset of footage from the film, which should still be off in the distance. It will be Momoa’s charisma, his intensity and his agility that will either set him apart from the original (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) or cast him as nothing more than a faint shadow. The questions are all around. Will he be formidable? Will his story make us care about the plight of a barbarian? Will the film have a blistering intensity? All of these are problems for the future. For now, lets get a look at those abs.

Directed by Marcus Nispel, Conan is due in theaters in 2011. Head over to Latino Review to see more images.
