h2-posterheader

The folks at Dimension Films have released the first teaser poster for Rob Zombie’s H2, the sequel to his 2007 remake of the 1978 John Carpenter classic Halloween. The follow up film will pick up at the exact moment the first movie stopped, stars Scout Taylor-Compton, Tyler Mane, Danielle Harris, Daniel Roebuck, Ezra Buzzington, Jeffrey Daniel Phillips, Richard Brake, Matt Bush and Howard Hesseman.

If we look back to 2007, Zombie’s remake split the vote with the FSR staff — Kevin Carr slammed it with a D- grade, calling it “an absolute dud.” While Robert Fure, our keeper of the Coroner’s Report, praised it with a B+ grade, saying that “the action is hard, violent, and fast, and the look of the film is spot on.” Needless to say, I would expect similarly polarized reactions to Zombie’s sequel. There is an audience for it though, as the first film grossed $79 million at the box office, making it the highest earner of the Halloween franchise. So despite the general negative connotation given to any remake these days, Zombie proved that he can deliver something commercially viable. We can likely expect the same from his next attempt as well.

H2: Halloween 2 will hit theaters August 28, 2009. Click the poster below to see the high resolution version.
