Emma Roberts Cast in ‘Scream 4’; Confusion Ensues

Last week we reported that three lovely ladies — Lake Bell, Ashley Greene and Hayden Panettiere — were joining the production of Scream 4. This week, we find out that at least one of those names might not belong.

According to EW, Ashley Greene has been replaced by Emma Roberts, of Nancy Drew fame. Greene was supposed to play the role of Jill, one of the film’s main heroines. She is the cousin of Neve Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott, who appeared in the franchise’s previous films. And as you might expect, everyone is very happy. “I’m so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise,” says Roberts. “It’s the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I’ve ever done before.”

Director Wes Craven told EW: “Emma’s talent, beauty, and range will add immensely to the sophistication, intensity, and fun of the Scream franchise as it returns to the screen once more.”

All of this begs the question: what about Ashley Greene? Was The Hollywood Reporter wrong when they announced that she would play the role of Jill? And what was the error, the role or her involvement in the project altogether. I have a feeling that it will all be sorted out soon, as the project will begin shooting at the end of June.
