‘Drew: The Man Behind The Poster’ Trailer Plays the First Notes of the Movie Experience

Drew Struzan Back to the Future Poster

Even as a new wave of movie poster artists (most notably not hired by Photoshop-happy studios) emerges, there is still one name that towers over all of them. That name is Drew.

The man who was so poor growing up that he “drew on toilet paper with pencils” is now widely heralded as the greatest movie poster illustrator of all time, and now Drew Struzan is getting an unrepentantly celebratory documentary made about his work.

Drew: The Man Behind The Poster looks like pure joy — a feature-length love fest for an artist that most certainly deserves it. As such, director Erik Sharkey and his team have organized one hell of a party steering committee. Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro, George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Michael J. Fox, Frank Darabont, and many more all turn out to praise the man responsible for making you want to see a movie before you know anything else about it.

It’s been a long time coming, but after a premiere at Comic-Con and a few laps around the festival circuit, it looks like it’s finally ready to see theaters near us. Check out the trailer for yourself:

Now clean the drool off your desk.
