Comic-Con 2012: Mondo Changes The Game With Olly Moss and The Dark Knight Rises

Earlier in the week, it was teased by Devin Faraci at Badass Digest that Mondo would soon make a “game-changing” announcement. And as Comic-Con rocked on for its first few days, Mondo made plenty of announcements. But all of them were the standard fair: really amazing, exclusive run posters to be sold at their SDCC booth. What’s “game-changing” about that?

Today they let loose the big gun: a licensed poster for The Dark Knight Rises by Olly Moss, arguably their most popular artist, whose artwork sees unbelievable aftermarket prices. His recent Doctor Who print has been going for upwards of $1000 on eBay. There’s something special about his next release, though. If you’re not caught in a time warp, you can definitely get one. And here’s how…

On July 18, 2012, Mondo will put Moss’ TDKR poster on sale for 24 hours. That means that anyone who wants to buy one can order the poster. The limited edition will be limited to the number of orders placed. Friends, you’ve just read the incredible future of Mondo. For anyone who has ever tried to buy a Mondo poster online and found themselves frustrated with the mad-dash to get it into their cart and furiously type out a credit card number, this is the solution you’ve longed for. And it comes with a gorgeous poster from Olly Moss.

Here’s the official release from the folks at Mondo:

“…for the first time in Mondo’s history, a print will be available to anyone and everyone who wants to purchase it. For 24 hours only, beginning at 12:01am CT on Wednesday, July 18, the regular edition of Olly Moss’ The Dark Knight Rises will be available for a full 24 hours at  The final edition number will be set by the total number of people that purchase the print. Follow @MondoNews for more details.”

“We’ve listened to feedback about making prints available to everyone who wants one, and we’re excited to be able to offer this one time chance with something as highly coveted as an Olly Moss print for Batman.  While we won’t change the collectible status of Mondo posters, this timed release is something we’d like to offer as a unique and rare opportunity for any fan to own a Mondo print,” said Mondo Creative Director Justin Ishmael.

Additionally, a random purchaser of the timed-edition will receive a special “Golden Ticket”. In exchange for this ticket, the lucky winner will receive a commissioned print with the subject of their choice directly from Olly Moss.

This really is going to change the game for Mondo.

Also, how about this poster…
