Bad Brains Documentary Goes Hardcore

Bad Brains Getting Their Own Hardcore Documentary

Growing up listening to punk music has given me two things: 1) a cautious eye toward authority and 2) an appreciation of Rollins Band that most don’t have.

Still, I’m psyched to know that production partners Mandy Stein and Ben Logan have gotten together a documentary film focused on Bad Brains, the Washington D.C. hardcore band that so greatly affected the scene back when Black Flag and others were building a music genre. The film will look at their career starting back in 1979.

The film isn’t completely done yet – in fact, filmmakers are asking for any footage you may have, and you can contact them by emailing them. If you’re anxious to soothe your savage soul with some cinematic hardcore, I’d suggest checking out American Hardcore, Paul Rachman’s fantastic look at the birth of punk in the early 1980s.

What do you think? Down with a Bad Brains doc? Never heard of them? Did the Rollins Band references go over your head? Please say no.
