I am not sitting at the awards ceremony for this year’s 2008 Sundance Film Festival, by Kim Voynar at Cinematical certainly is. And she is reporting that one of my personal favorite films from the festival, The Wackness has won the American Dramatic Audience Award.
This doesn’t come as any surprise to me, as there was an incredible amount of buzz all over the place for The Wackness this year. It seemed like every time I was talking to someone on a bus, on the street or in a theater about what they had seen that they liked, the answer generally included this film.
After receiving the award, director Jonathan Levine had this to say: “I just accepted an award from William H. Macy in a cowboy hat; that is fucking weird.”
Well said, indeed.
