Short Film: ‘From the Future With Love’ is the RoboCop Sequel We Deserve

From the Future With Love

Why Watch? Private police forces troll New York City for crime (mostly its eateries), but if people don’t have the right coverage plan, they ignore what’s going on. The technology they have is incredible, and the private data they can access is immense, so when one of them is taken out by a thief, the consequences are potentially catastrophic.

Pro-level at every turn, this is an excellent sci-fi drama with a comic edge and a few laser blasts thrown in for good measure. The Tarantino banter connection and episodic nature is hard to ignore, but writer/director K-Michel Parandi pulls it off with sleek design and a balance of science fiction tropes embedded into a turf war.

It’s absolutely its own animal, but it feels a bit like a dispatch from one small corner of “Snowcrash.”
