Calling it “excellent coverage” before it’s even begun might be a bit forward, but we here at Film School Rejects have been doing this South by Southwest Film Festival thing for a number of years now, so we’re feeling rather confident. This year sees the return of our crack staff, consisting of yours truly, critic Rob Hunter and interviewer Jack Giroux. We’re armed with bags full of electronic recording equipment and Clif Bars, ready to take on the packed streets of Austin, Texas. Assuming we can fight our way through the throngs of hipsters, we should be able to see a few movies.
If you’re not coming to Austin for South by, as the regulars call it, you may want to follow along with our coverage. We’ll be bringing you reviews, reports on the who, what, where and how much from the film festival and conference, and some chats with people who make movies. It will be quite similar to being there, only you won’t have to take as much Prilosec OTC. If that sounds like good fun, here’s a little guide to where you can follow all of our Award Winning* coverage of South by Southwest 2013.
Bookmark Our SXSW Homepage - When we publish a review, interview, essay or piece of news from the front lines, this is where it will land. So keep your browser pointed in the right direction.
Follow Us On Tumblr - As we did with the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, we’ll be using our Reject HQ blog on Tumblr to bring you behind the scenes, up-to-the-minute access to what’s happening. Watch us wait in line, follow our heavily filtered Instagram pictures, get our quick reactions to all the movies we see, and even stay tuned for a few surprises. It’s the best way to experience SXSW 2013 in real time, no matter where you live.
Follow Us On Google+ – Similar to Tumblr, we’ll also be posting updates on our Google+ page. We like Google+, because it’s not Facebook. You should do likewise.
Follow Us on the Twitter – Want to hear from each of us individually? That’s also possible through the magic of Twitter:
If you’ve read this far, it’s time for a note of personal significance. Because I will be representing Film School Rejects as the moderator of a panel called Not So Short Story: Short Form to Feature on Saturday, March 9 at 2:00PM. If you’re in town for SXSW, you should stop by and watch me chat with filmmakers Kyle Henry, Hannah Fidell and Calvin Lee Reeder about their journey from making short films to making much longer films. It’s going to be a good time. If you find me after the panel and mention that you read this article, I’ll give you a high five. It will be the best high five of your day, of that I can assure you.
* Did we give ourselves a preemptive award for “Best SXSW Coverage Ever?” Sure. Does it matter? Nope. It’s still an award.
