Drinking Game Double Feature: The Invention of Lying and Whiteout

dvd-drinking-game

We at FSR love to drink. And we know that many of you love to drink, as well. This shared love has led us to a brand new (though not exactly new) feature here at FSR: The Weekly DVD Drinking Game. Every week we will chose a DVD release (or in this case, two releases) and give you a few simple steps toward drunken stupidity (or cinematic tolerance). This week…

The Invention of Lying

Lying comes so naturally to most of us that the thought of a movie about a world that tells nothing but the truth is almost more terrifying than someone discovering how to lie. Fortunately for us, this is a comedy, and with Ricky Gervais in charge, there’s some good laughs. But none funnier than when you get a little inebriated.

And now, to cover our butts… This game is only for people over the age of 21. Please drink responsibly, and don’t tell the truth like they do in this movie.

TAKE A DRINK WHENEVER….

  • Mark narrates
  • Mark tells a lie
  • Someone stammers
  • Someone says something uncomfortable or awkward

TAKE A DRINK WHEN YOU SEE…

  • Food or drink
  • Religious symbolism
  • A movie within the movie
  • An advertisement or product placement

TAKE A DRINK WHEN SOMEONE SAYS…

  • “Mark”
  • “Anna”
  • “man”
  • “fat”

CHUG YOUR DRINK WHENEVER…

  • Mark discovers he can lie

Whiteout

Antarctica is the coldest, most desolate place on Earth, but sexy Kate Beckinsale brings a little bit of warmth to the bottom of the world in her film Whiteout. In the movie, she is tracking down a killer, and the film seems to begin and end with the consumption of alcohol, so it makes a perfect start for a drinking game.

And now, to cover our butts… This game is only for people over the age of 21. Please drink responsibly, and don’t forget to button up.

TAKE A DRINK WHENEVER….

  • Ice or snow gets inside
  • Someone is hit, shot or killed
  • There’s a flashback sequence
  • A title appears on screen to tell you where the scene takes place

TAKE A DRINK WHEN YOU SEE…

  • A flag
  • Blood
  • A badge
  • A mountainous landscape

TAKE A DRINK WHEN SOMEONE SAYS…

  • “ice”
  • “snow”
  • “white”
  • anyone’s name

CHUG YOUR DRINK WHENEVER…

  • Kate in her undies

Kevin Carr crawled from the primordial ooze in the early 1970s. He grew up watching movies to the point of irritation for his friends and was a font of useless movie knowledge until he decided to put that knowledge to good use. Now, Kevin is a nationally syndicated critic, heard on dozens of radio stations around the country, and his reviews appear in a variety of online outlets. Kevin is also a proud member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA), the Online Film Critics Society (OFCS), and the Central Ohio Film Critics Association (COFCA).
