When it comes to horror, there’s only one thing that gets our blood pumping as much as over the top violence and geysers of blood:  Sexy Ladies.  Horror and Hotties have gone together for as long as celluloid has captured moving images, creating what we affectionately refer to as the Scream Queens. With the upcoming release of The Unborn looking to be awesomely frightening and featuring the talents of Odette Yustman, who previously exercised her screaming chops in Cloverfield, we got to thinking about our current crop of horror lovelies and decided to share with you some of our favorites.

To qualify as a “Scream Queen,” our requirements were simple – they’ve got be a beautiful female and they either have to be closely associated to horror or prominently been featured in a few horror flicks.  For example, Jessica Biel didn’t make our list because she’s only been in one horror film.  Likewise, ultra-hotties Sophia Bush (The Hitcher, Stay Alive) and Amanda Righetti (Return to House on Haunted Hill, Friday the 13th) are on the verge of becoming Scream Queens, but haven’t yet been in enough.  Oh, and to make this list, they have to be currently working in horror, we’ll get to our favorite Scream Queens from decades past later in the year.

10.  Crystal Lowe

Scream Queens of Today

This Canadian hottie has appeared in at least 6 horror films with another on the way.  You probably recognize her as the topless girl in either Final Destination 3 or Wrong Turn 2: Dead End.

Bloody Best: Final Destination 3
Bloody Worst: Scary Movie 4

9.  Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Scream Queens of Today

Appearing in four horror flicks (did you catch her in The Ring Two?), Mary Elizabeth Winstead earns her spot on the list with Final Destination 3 and Black Christmas, plus the fact that she’s so hot she should be on every list.

Bloody Best: Final Destination 3
Bloody Worst: Grindhouse: Death Proof (She looks amazing, but even her cheerleader outfit can’t save this snooze fest)

8.  Cerina Vincent

Scream Queens of Today

This beautiful babe left behind her Power Rangers past to appear in at least seven horror films, two of which have the distinction of being in the IMDb Bottom 100 (Seven Mummies, Intermedio).  That being said, she is hot and associated with horror and is not afraid to strip down.

Bloody Best: Sasquatch Mountain (Hey it stars Lance Henriksen!  Though you’d probably prefer Return to House on Haunted Hill)
Bloody Worst: Seven Mummies

7.  Sheri Moon Zombie

Scream Queens of Today

Before moving to the big screen in flicks like Halloween and House of 1000 Corpses, Sheri Moon Zombie populated the horror themed music videos of rocker-husband Rob Zombie.  Like our other lovelies, she’s not shy about exposing a little bit of Sheri’s Moon. (Get it?  I’m talking about her butt!)

Bloody Best: The Devil’s Rejects
Bloody Worst: Toolbox Murders

6.  Rachel Miner

Scream Queens of Today

Rocketing to stardom via Californication, Rachel Miner has put her time in the genre box, stacking up five appearances and managing to be in a film released by After Dark Horrofest I, II, and III. (Penny Dreadful, Tooth & Nail, Butterfly Effect: Revelation).

Bloody Best: Fear Itself: Sacrifice
Bloody Worst: Penny Dreadful

5.  Daniella Alonso

Scream Queens of Today

This sexy chica first caught my eye as the “way too hot to be a soldier” single mom in The Hills Have Eyes 2.  I liked her so much I went back and watched Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horror, which turned out to be a pretty bad idea.

Bloody Best: Wrong Turn 2: Dead End
Bloody Worst: Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horrors

4.  Sarah Michelle Gellar

Scream Queens of Today

Best known for kicking vampire ass as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar has dabbled with the terrifying Scooby Doo franchise and the lovable children’s film The Grudge.

Bloody Best: The Grudge (Or Buffy)
Bloody Worst: Scooby-Doo

3.  Scout Taylor-Compton

Scream Queens of Today

This incredible cutie appeared on everyone’s radar after Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, but horror fans will remember her from After Dark Horrorfest I’s Wicked Little Things and we’ll all get another dose of her in Zombie’s H2.

Bloody Best: Halloween
Bloody Worst: April Fool’s Day

2.  Shawnee Smith

Scream Queens of Today

First rocking out in The Blob remake, as well as The X-Files and Stephen King’s The Stand, Shawnee sliced her way to the top with her head turning (and almost head exploding) appearance in Saw.  She’s since appeared in all of the Saw films, as well as numerous other horror projects and even hosted VH1’s reality show Scream Queens.  On top of all that, she’s hot as hell.  A worthy number one, if it weren’t for… Well, read on!

Bloody Best: Saw III (It gave her more to do than the other installments)
Bloody Worst: Carnival of Souls

1.  Tiffany Shepis

Scream Queens of Today

When someone says “Scream Queen” to me, the first two words out of my mouth are Tiffany Shepis.  She’s been featured in over 70 films, the majority of them related to horror.  She’s exposed flesh for the After Dark Horrorfest (Nightmare Man) and worked with Troma (Tromeo & Juliet).  When it comes down to making a living screaming and shedding clothes, Shepis is the undeniable Queen.

Bloody Best: Abominable
Bloody Worst: Zombies Zombies Zombies

Honorable Mention: Neve Campbell & Courtney Cox.  Sure they dominated horror for awhile with Scream, but other than that franchise they didn’t make much of an impact.

Hope for the Future: I really hope Amanda Righetti becomes a fixture in horror.  She’s hot, was in Return to House on Haunted Hill already, and I’m sure after Friday the 13th comes out, she’ll be at the forefront of horror hotties.
